The Grade II listed Georgian house is set in 1.5 hectares of gardens overlooking the stunning Clwyd Valley and the Clwydian mountain range, an area of outstanding natural beauty, just a short drive from the medieval market town of Ruthin.
Its three double bedrooms, which range from £ 80 to £ 125 per night, are en suite and individually furnished.
Speaking of winning the award, Anna Meadway, co-owner of Firgrove Country House, said, “We are very happy. It was a bit of a surprise, especially after the past 18 months. We have been able to achieve all that we can do through AA. It is very nice to be recognized and especially since it is AA themselves who come to see us. We’re obviously doing something right, I think.
“It’s nice to have guests. We’re not at full throttle yet, but next year we hope. It can only help.

Commenting on her cooking, Anna said: “I am not a skilled chef but it is good home cooking made with local products. We always eat with our guests and people seem to enjoy it.
Simon Numphud, Managing Director of AA Media, described Firgrove Country House as: “A magnificent grade II listed Georgian house set in immaculate, mature gardens in a peaceful, rural location. It has retained many of the original features and its rooms, complemented by modern and stylish bathrooms, are equipped with many thoughtful extras.
“Memorable breakfasts made with homemade and local produce are served in an elegant dining room and the warmest of Welsh hospitality is provided by its owners.”
