Police are searching for a suspect who escaped from the Hartford courthouse

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A suspect escaped from an upper courthouse in Hartford on Thursday.

Hartford Police confirmed to Channel 3 that they are assisting Connecticut State Police in the search for the prisoner.

State police identified the man as Marico Ellis, 24, of Hartford, who was in court for a case.

They said Ellis left the courthouse during a proceeding.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and no shoes.

“Hartford Police and other area departments have been notified,” state police said. “Soldiers and officers are actively searching for Ellis in the city of Hartford. We ask anyone with information to call 9-1-1.

No other details were disclosed.
